Do you suffer from the discomfort and swelling of varicose veins? If so, you may be suffering from venous reflux disease. More than 30 million people live with varicose veins without being diagnosed.

Traditionally, patients with venous reflux were treated with vein stripping surgery. Now, there are minimally invasive treatments such as Venefit.

Venefit is available at Cardiovascular Institute of Orlando. You can get treatment that can relieve symptoms such as heaviness or fatigue, pain and visible varicose veins without undergoing major, invasive surgery.

Venefit is a minimally invasive way to treat varicose veins.

Conventional vein stripping surgery requires two incisions and the insertion of a tool that pulls the vein out of your leg.

With Venefit, we use a small probe that delivers radio frequency energy inside of diseased veins to collapse them. The veins are left in place.

Once the diseased vein is collapsed, your symptoms should improve in one to two weeks with minimal discomfort or bruising.

Minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins is less painful than vein stripping and gives excellent results.

VIDEO: HOW VENEFIT HELPED ONE PATIENT

  • Is Venefit painful?

Most patients report feeling little, if any, pain during the Venefit procedure. You will receive a local or regional anesthetic to numb the treatment area.

Most patients report noticeable improvement in their symptoms within 1 to 2 weeks.

  • Am I likely to have hematoma or inflammation after the Venefit treatment?

Most patients report little or no scarring, bruising or swelling following Venefit.

  • How is Venefit different from laser abalation treatment?

Although Venefit and 980nm endovenous laser ablation are both minimally invasive, a multi-center study showed that Venefit was associated with significantly lower rates of pain, bruising and complications. Plus, those who received Venefit reported improvements up to four times faster.

  • How is Venefit different from traditional surgical vein stripping?

During vein stripping, incisions are made at the groin and the calf, a tool is then threaded through the diseased vein to pull the vein out of the leg. With Venefit, only one small incision is made at the site where the probe is inserted and the vein is treated and left in place. This reduces the likelihood of pain and bruising associated with vein stripping.
